Like all sports, Horse Racing has its winners and its less successful. The successful will go on hopefully to bigger and better triumphs, whilst others through re-homing will seek alternative life-styles whether it be as Three day Eventers or at the other extreme a quiet hack.
Normally, their asking price is not excessive, as the main wish will always be to find a good home.
There are many benefits that come with a re-homed racehorse:
- They will be fully trained and schooled.
- Used to being handled by a variety of people
- Mixing amongst their own kind in a stable environment and out in the fields.
- Regular veterinary checks and treatments, if required,
Being boxed and transported
- The Noise and excitement of a racehorse
Evidence of their success in other careers can be seen in
- Thornaby Girl — a first class Polo Pony
- Bobbing Cove — Eventing
- Flora the Explorer — Dressage
- Fathom — Hunter Showing
- Shamberry- Show Jumping
- Barrhead — Hunter Showing
