Cruachan in the rain

Cruachan ran at Ayr on Tuesday 16th ridden by Jonathon England.  What should have been nice soft ground which we were hoping for, had disappeared due to the early arrival of some particularly vile weather and the going was officially Heavy by the time of his race. This is not what he enjoys however despite this he still ran a very game race to finish a nice fourth place.  Hopefully the rain will soon stop and he will get the ground that he enjoys.

Pony Racers

We had a group of seventeen enthusiastic young jockeys here in the yard on a very chilly but sunny Sunday.  There were here for their accreditation which they must have before they are able to ride in pony races.  All went well and seemed to have loads of fun and learnt a huge amount too.  Good Luck for them all and look forward to seeing them on the track!!

Berkshire Downs – Carlisle 10th Feb

Berkshire Downs ridden by Adam Nicol ran another very solid race, on really horrible ground, officially Heavy but it had been waterlogged in places so you can image it was pretty tough going.  She set a good sensible pace and jumped nicely thought out, she was tapped for toe at the bottom of the hill but galloped on strongly all the way to the line. A win will come her way soon, but she’s such an honest horse, five runs this season and four seconds.

This Thyne Jude

This Thyne Jude made her debut for us at Musselburgh, running in a two mile hurdle. Since she arrived in the summer we have spent a good while trying to get her to settle at home, she was very nervous and wanted to go everywhere full speed and had seemed to be much better at home, and hopefully would show the same at the track. She was given a lovely ride by Grant Cockburn, who managed to get her settled really nicely at the back of the field and she stayed on nicely up the home straight to finish in sixth place, a very encouraging run from her and importantly […]

Well thats Newcastle, Ayr and Newcastle again all OFF – its such a shame but the ground just is saturated and its still coming down from the sky, we know as we are still getting wet riding out – but horses will be fit and ready to go when we get back racing……………………………………………whenever that may be!!

Silverton – a bit of a mystery

Silverton was the winner of The Best Turned Out award prior to her run over hurdles.  However her run was very lacklustre and she was like a horse who didn’t really want to be racing, which is so unlike her. There is clearly something amiss with her, although so far we have failed to find anything and she seems in rude health at home, but we will investigate further and find out what is bothering her.  There will be another day with our grey bomber!!!

Berkshire Downs – Soooo close

Berkshire Downs ran a fantastic race at Kelso in the two mile mares hurdle.  She was given a lovely ride by Adam Nicol who had her up close to the leader all the way and apart from getting a bit brave at the second last she jumped and traveled like a dream the whole way, after the last she put her head down and galloped all the way to the line but the eventual winner did come right across the track and may have slightly intimidated her but she still ran a great race to finish second, much closer this time around.  She will be winning soon and is a […]

Ayr 11th November(Rinnagree Rosie)

RINNAGREE ROSIE/ADRIAN LANE also ran in the race with CRUACHAN. Her first race since the end of February. Running to the rear of the field, Rosie appeared comfortable until tiring in the last half mile. Ultimately finishing 9th , it was a promising return for Rosie to racing

Ayr 11th November(Cruachan)

CRUACHAN/ADAM NICOL competed in a Class 4 Handicap Hurdle over 2m5.5f on a Soft track with 12 runners. Racing for the first time since May, Adam was content to settle Cruachan at the rear of the field until after the 4th last. Steady progress was made with Cruachan claiming 3rd spot. A promising return.
