Ayr Races

Royal Regent ridden by Joe Fanning couldn’t quite keep up the ferocious gallop that was set in a higher grade of race but nonetheless wasn’t beaten far. Remember Rocky ridden by Adam Macnamara ran another fantastic race but just was hampered at the wrong time but ran on strongly to be fourth, Mr Consistent.

Super Strobe – super second

The old boy Strobe, ridden by Joanna Mason turned back the clock in the two mile handicap and ran a blinder to finish in a great second place.  He was four times older than some of the runners, and he won BTO – he loves the cameras and thinks all racegoers are there to see him!!  We had a small champagne celebration. 🍾🍾🍾

Perth – soggy!

Badged and Son of Feyan both ran at a soft and wet Perth tonight, Badged ran a nice race for a long way but he struggles with his wind in the soft ground, but am improved run nonetheless.  Son of Feyan put up another good run, he’s still young and it’s beginning to all fit together with him, patience is the key.

Royal Regent ridden by Dougie Costello ran in the one mile three handicap – things didn’t quite work his way, he didn’t handle the undulations of the track before being badly hampered in last couple of furlongs, he finished in fifth place.  We may well wait for a race back at Ayr for him.

Ayr 18th July

Royal Duchess ridden by Adam Macnamara was making a quick reappearance after her win at this track a week ago, all things being equal she didn’t run a bad race but nothing really went her way as it had done previously and it may well have been a bit soon for her to be back on the track. Remember Rocky also ridden by Adam Macnamara  ran a great race, he finished in third place staying on well at the end of the race, he was the first horse off the bridle and looked like he may struggle to stay with them but he dug really deep and stayed on fantastically over […]

A Royal Delight

CWOW – what a day Monday was at Ayr!!!!!!!!! Royal Regent and Royal Duchess both ridden by Joe Doyle, (who was using his three pound claim for a final day) both won their races.  Reggie was running in the one mile two furlong handicap and he never saw a rival, Joe used his stamina and when there was no early pace decided to make all and was still pulling away from the others at the line. Duchess was running in the seven furlong handicap had to work a bit harder but once she got a space she charged to the front and perhaps won with a little in hand, ears […]

Soggy Sunday

This Thyne Jude ridden by Grant Cockburn was stepping up the three miles today, but unfortunately the rain came and the good going we were hoping for became soft, very soft!!  She still ran a great race to finish in fifth place but a lack of pace throughout the race didn’t help her when they sprinted up the home straight.  However still another very promising run from her!!

Remember Rocky ridden by Tom Eaves and Wolf Heart ridden by Kevin Stott both ran in the 9 furlong handicap on good to soft ground. Rocky ran another good race to finish in sixth place but is in need of some help from the handicapper to get back into the winners enclosure but he ran a good solid race, right up to his mark and Wolf ran well for a long way before just running out of steam – he hasn’t run for a year and will come on plenty for his run.  He also won Best Turned Out award, smart chap.
