Karingo and Son of Feyan

Karingo and Son of Feyan both ridden by Grant Cockburn ran at the first jumps meeting at Ayr. Karingo ran in the the two and a half mile maiden hurdle, he led he field for most of the race and his jumping was certainly improved for this tactic, he was still in front at the second last hurdle but was just out sprinted in the final furlong or so.  He was only just pipped for fourth place but there were some pretty smart horses in his race who I think will go on to be decent prospects.  He also won the best turned out award, smart chap! Son of Feyan […]

Cruachan

Cruachan ridden by Adam Nicol ran at Carlisle in the two and a half mile handicap hurdle.  He ran no sort of race really but finished in fifth place without really seeming to get seriously involved in the race.  However there will be other days for him and he’s home in one piece.  Horses can be such a mystery at times!!!

Super Strobe

The time has come for the Duncrievie legend Super Strobe to be retired from racing, he picked up a very slight injury in his latest run and it’s just brought forward his retirement which was imminent. He has been such an amazing horse for a small yard like ours, nine wins and many placings and given us loads of highs and a few lows but at twelve years old still can behave like a two year old at times!!!! Happy retirement to a horse of a lifetime for so many people who have been involved with him, owners, jockeys and everyone here at Duncrieive, esp Caroline.  Xx

All Weather Newcastle

Strobe ridden by Joe Doyle ran over two miles on the all weather track at Newcastle’s twilight meeting on Saturday.  He was having a lovey time leading the field but there was one horse who just hassled him down the back straight and he never had a chance to fill his lungs but he finished with his ears pricked.  Age twelve hes still winning Best Turned Out awards, hes a bit of a poser!!!!

Doc at Ayr

Granite City Doc ridden by Dougie Costello ran over seven furlongs – this was a very fast run race and he was just not able to go the pace, and he did nothing wrong but he is beginning to look like a stayer, or even a jumper in the making, despite his breeding!!  He took everything in his stride and is a pleasure to have in the yard and has lovely owners who will give him plenty of time to grow as he is still growing, Lots to look forward with him.

Perth

Three boys who had been on their summer holidays, Cadore, Karingo and Cruachan all ran at Perth on the final day of the season.  All ran great races, Cruachan ran a blinder over a distance not quite ideal but finished in a fab third place and Karingo who has had a number of niggling problems and not been on the racecourse for over a year ran a very encouraging race.  All systems go for the winter season with these boys.
